This morning my husband held his crushed meds mixed with yogurt in his mouth for a long long time before I finally convinced him to swallow it. He is suffering from endstage
early onset Alzheimers. Has anyone gone thru this and how
did you handle it?

Hi, I just joined this community today and read your challenge. My husband is also early onset in end stages. I am having some trouble getting him to take pills also. I have had to try all kinds of things. It is likely his brain is not telling him to swallow. Does he have trouble swallowing regular food? Not knowing anything of what he is like it is hard to make good suggestions. Is this a new thing? does it happen often? It probubly doesnt taste good. Does he understand what you are asking him to do? I might be of a bit more help if you let me know the answer to these questions. Does he have a favorite food? One thing that works for me ,but this depends on the pill size, is getting a popsicle carving a little hole in the top and sticking the small pill in it. This works for me because my husband love icepops , the pill is small and his swallowing ability is normal at this point. Wishing you the best on your journey. Let me know if this helps. diaforden
