I agree with Hope4 about keeping accurate records.  If you do that, you can see patterns of things you might have otherwise missed.  It also helps when you have to advocate for your loved one.  Even when it feels like you are not doing much (or enough) just having someone watching out for them makes a huge difference in the care that they get.  Small things can get missed in a busy facility, and they can make all the difference.

 Yes I encourage all the families of residents in my homes to call us as much as possible for progress reports. Email us. Although this doesnot take the place of being there it lets the staff know that the family is concerned and will be monitoring them especially in large facilities .  But the best thing to do is move her closer to you ASAP.
